This New Hampshire City is the Third ‘Best Run City in America’

You read that headline correctly.

One New Hampshire city has officially ranked #3 in the study to find the "Best Run City in America."

WalletHub conducted the research, which can be found here.

Evaluating the best vs worst-run cities in the nation is a heavy liftoff; a rather large and unsettling task.

According to the study, determining which city is run the best is done by evaluating the city’s operating efficiency. "In other words, we can learn how well city officials manage and spend public funds by comparing the quality of services residents receive against the city’s total budget," according to WalletHub.

"Using that approach, WalletHub compared the operating efficiency of 149 of the largest U.S. cities to reveal which among them are managed best. We constructed a “Quality of Services” score made up of 36 metrics grouped into six service categories, which we then measured against the city’s per-capita budget."

Those six service categories include:

  1. Financial Stability

  2. Education

  3. Health

  4. Safety

  5. Economy

  6. Infrastructure & Pollution

And what New Hampshire city CRUSHED this report? Good ole Nashua.

Most important (and the best to brag about) was the safety of Nashua. Nashua ranked the #1 safest city, according to the research.

Below is a map of the cities with a color representing their rank. The darker the purple, the better the city is run. The lighter and brighter the blue, the worse the city is run.

As you can see, Nashua is dark purple and #3...but there is another top 15 New Hampshire member: Manchester. Wildly enough, Manch-vegas was the 13th spot in this 149-city study.

Bottom line? We're doing something right in the 603. Go Granite State!
